SuperSport United will be seeking back-to-back wins for the first time this season in the Betway Premiership when they welcome newly-promoted Magesi to the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday, December 14.

Matsatsantsa have really struggled for consistency in the opening three months of the campaign, picking up just 12 points from their first 10 matches.

Gavin Hunt’s side arrested a three-game winless run with a 1-0 triumph over basement dwellers Richards Bay on December 6 which took them into the top half of the table up to eighth place, one point ahead of Kaizer Chiefs (9th).

Hunt has tinkered with his team more than he would’ve liked and looking for some stability while admitting there has been an over-reliance on Bradley Grobler, who only recently returned from a knee injury which required surgery.

“It is not a breathing space because we have a game again this week, but we are trying to get a bit of consistency in our team. We have chopped and changed a lot,” he said.

“That’s always not good. We can’t also keep on relying on Bradley Grobler. He has been doing it I don’t know for how many years.

“He had a major operation, so I played him in the last two weeks and he was struggling. He has been a good servant for SuperSport.”

Dikwena tsa Meetse have already delivered a few surprises in 2024-25 after winning the Carling Knockout by defeating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 in the final, but they’ve struggled to replicate that form in the league.

Clinton Larsen’s side recorded their maiden top-flight win against Golden Arrows on September 26 before embarking on a four-match unbeaten run, although they’ve lost their last two outings.

Magesi squandered the lead to lose 3-1 to Marumo Gallants on December 7, having also thrown away a two-goal advantage against Kaizer Chiefs seven days earlier as they had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

The Limpopo outfit find themselves just one point clear of the Natal Rich Boys in 15th position, level with AmaZulu on six points but behind them on goal difference.
